Diana, the queen of people, had always amused me like many other people around the globe. After completing Diana Her True Story, by Andrew Morton, I am awestruck by the person she was and saddened by the life she lived. A young girl who had a difficult childhood due to separation of her parents, a girl who always craved for love, despite of having all the amenities of the world. Young Diana, tried to find the long lost love which she craved in her literal prince charming. But god was unkind in that sense, and unfortunately she did not get the endearment for which she aspired.

Who Diana Was?

Born as Diana Spencer, in a royal family, was the 3rd child of Earl John Spencer and Frances Shand Kydd. After separation of her parents at a very young age, this shy kid suffered loneliness. She met her future husband, Prince Charles (now King of England), at the age of 16 and was head over heels and married him after 3 years to become Princess of Wales. Since then, this beautiful young lady became the muse of photographers with her sweet smile. Little did she know that her husband was already infatuated by Camilla Parker-Bowles(now queen consort of UK) and there were always 3 persons in her marriage. And then rest is history.

What I deduced?

Well I am a reflective writer, if that’s a word for someone who only writes when touched by a particular subject. Diana, since ages, is the person who attracted my thoughts and made me ponder, after Leonardo Da Vince and Jane Austen. I believe she was a revolutionary icon of that time, who presented the dark side of monarchy as well as a fairytale which turned out to be ugly. She was vocal about her sufferings which she endured for almost a decade. She empowered women to go out in public and seek justice. Not only she broke the taboos by shaking hands with AIDS patients but also worked for the areas such as working for riddance live minefields which attracted little attention then. She truly had this invisible magical wand which can make anyone fan of hers just like that. And of course her pre eminent fashion sense! Her story of seeking love in different persons, was the result of solace which exemplify that money and royalty cannot buy happiness and respect.

She might have been unlucky in case of intimacy , but she earned a great deal of admiration and respect from all around the world. She wanted to, and she indeed became the queen of people, in the hearts of people. Well the great stories are incomplete and let audience decide the climax, so is the life of Diana, for us to decide what could have or could not have been done if she would have been alive.

P.S Sometimes I do wonder if Taylor Swift can write a song about her anytime?
